Defending his 23rd Grand Slam title, Novak Djokovic wins the French Open

As a result of his win over Casper Ruud, Djokovic passed Rafael 

Nadal for most Grand Slam tournament titles in the Open era.

For the third time in his career, Novak Djokovic conquered Casper 

Ruud in straight sets to win the French Open men's singles title.

With a record 23 Grand Slam tournament singles titles to his name, 

Djokovic has staked his claim to being the greatest male tennis player of all time.

Djokovic beat Ruud 7-6 (1), 6-3, 7-5. Djokovic collapsed on his back 

after forcing Ruud to hit a final forehand off court with his second match point. 

To embrace his family and coaches, he knelt in prayer in the middle of the court.

From the podium during the trophy celebration, Djokovic said, 

"I feel like I can create my own destiny.". "If you want a better future, you can create it."
