A direct payment of up to $1,000 will be sent in 10 days as part of the stimulus check

Taxpayers in New Mexico have only 10 more days until they receive a $1,000 tax rebate.

Rebates will be issued to New Mexico residents 

Who have filed their taxes for 2021 and will be valued at either $500 for single filers 

or $1,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly. KOAT 7 reports that the 

Payments will either be made by direct deposit or by paper check, 

With direct deposits going out starting June 16 and paper checks in late June.

According to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM), basic necessities remain expensive across the country. 

"I believe that New Mexico's families should share in our state's success today, which is in a great financial position."

It is still possible to file returns for 2021 until May 31, 2024, for taxpayers who have not yet done so.

Taxpayers can update their addresses using the Taxpayer Access Point self-service 

Portal on the state's Taxation and Revenue Department after moving after filing a 2021 tax return. 

The taxpayer can also submit a change of address
