33 states will boost Social Security Supplemental Income benefits in 2023 - see exact date

In 33 states, Social Security Supplemental Income (SSI) recipients are getting boosted checks.

SSI benefits can reach $914, but some residents are able to receive more.

The extra amounts vary by state; New York offers an additional

$87 a month for individuals or $104 a month for couples.

In Alabama, couples can receive an additional $120.

June's payments were sent on the first of the month, but beneficiaries will receive a second check in July.

Due to July 1 falling on a Saturday, checks for that month will be mailed on June 30.

Your bank accounts are accessible to the Social Security Administration

Beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income might be surprised to learn that the

Social Security Administration is able to check their bank accounts at any time.

SSA requires your permission to request financial records to determine

Whether you qualify for SSI under the federal Code of Federal Regulations.

You may also be asked to provide information about anyone you know who earns or has resources.
