For the first time in the team's history, the Denver Nuggets won the NBA Finals
During the 47 years that the Denver Nuggets have been in the NBA, this is their first title.
94-89 was the final score in the best-of-seven series between the Nuggets and the Miami Heat.
It was Nikola Joki, a Serbian born 28-year-old center who led
the NBA Finals in points and rebounds with 28.
"The team did an amazing job," Jokic said after the game. The game was ugly;
we couldn't make shots. But we won because we figured out how to defend.
Thousands of Denver fans celebrated the historic win on social media and in the streets.
The local news showed hordes of fans cheering,
climbing light posts, and setting off fireworks in downtown Denver.
"I never expected to see the Denver Nuggets win a championship,"
a fan tweeted. The 41st pick was a 19-year-old Center from Serbia,
and he just led us to a championship."
