Update on stimulus checks: Direct payments worth $500 will be sent to more than 300 families in 15 days

It will be just over two weeks before 305 families in Sonoma County, California, receive their next $500 payment.

According to the Sonoma County Administrator's Office, applicants must have at least one child 

Under 6 years old, be affected in some way by the Coronavirus pandemic, and 

Have a household income no higher than 185% above federal poverty levels.

It is part of an experiment to see how guaranteed income affects impoverished families.

payments are sent on the third Wednesday of every month,

which means this month's payment will be sent out on June 21.

As a result of this additional income, they will be able to spend more time with their families, find a better job,

evaluator to conduct qualitative research (surveys, interviews, and focus groups) 

over the next two years, and a preliminary and final report will be published in spring 2024 and early 2025, respectively.
