Canada continues to prioritize the well-being of seniors by implementing multiple financial support programs through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Among these initiatives, the Canada Pension Benefit and Old Age Payment are the two most significant ones. These programs serve as a lifeline for Canadian seniors. They are especially important given rising living costs. A new CPP/OAS payment for seniors is scheduled for February 2025. Programs like these provide Canadians with reliable income sources that help them cover essential expenses like housing, healthcare, and food. They are periodically adjusted to keep benefits aligned with inflation.
In February 2025, seniors will receive a new CPP/OAS payment
CPP is a social contributory insurance plan that provides retirement income to Canadians who have worked and contributed during their employment. In 2025, the Government has restructured the CPP payments to reflect increased living costs. These changes will take effect throughout the year, including February. Those who are 65 years of age or older are eligible for the OAS benefit, another Canadian retirement income payment. In February 2025, the CRA will adjust CPP/OAS benefits to reflect changes in CPI and living costs. From January to March 2025, the CRA did not raise these benefits.
